ABOUT NARAJ BARRAGE & NEED FOR ITS PERIPHERY DEVELOPMENT

Naraj Barrage was built on river Kathajodi , a distributaries of river Mahanadi to moderate floods in Mahanadi Delta area. The Project was taken up under OWRCP (Odisha Water Resources Consolidation Project) funded by World Bank and started operation during 2004.The Project located in the outskirts of the millennium Silk city Cuttack. The famous Zoological Park at Nandankanan is only 15 km away from Naraj Barrage and the temple of Lord Dhabaleswar is also very near to the Barrage. Due to its proximity to the both Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, every day a good no of peoples from the twin cities are visiting the barrage site and enjoying the natural scenic beauty.
